Microsoft Rule Makes It Easier to Fire Directors

Microsoft Corp. revised its rules to make it easier for shareholders to force directors off the board.
Directors who receive a majority of “withhold” votes in an uncontested election will be asked to resign, the Redmond, Wash.-based company said.
Microsoft also declared a dividend of 8 cents a share, payable Dec. 8.
