The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted down a proposal by Supervisor Bob Buster to rescind its approval of a proposed landfill near Joshua Tree National Park.

A federal judge’s ruling last week froze plans to dump about 20,000 tons of Los Angeles County trash daily at a former iron ore pit in Eagle Mountain.

Buster on Tuesday called for the county to oppose any appeal of the ruling, and to oppose plans for other landfills that would hold garbage from other counties, and trains that take trash to the desert.

Supervisor Roy Wilson, whose district includes the proposed dump site, led the 3-1 vote to reject Buster’s proposal.
