Channing Pollock, 79; Magician Performed on TV, in Las Vegas
Channing Pollock, 79, a magician who entertained audiences worldwide with his talent for making doves vanish, died March 26 of cancer at his home in Las Vegas.
Pollock was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Sacramento and attended the Chavez College of Magic in La Verne, where he developed his specialty of making doves appear and disappear.
Beginning in 1952, Pollock toured the country and appeared on TV variety shows. He performed for President Eisenhower in 1955, for Queen Elizabeth in London and at the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.
In 1959 he started performing in Las Vegas, appearing regularly until his retirement in 1970.
