From Times Staff and Wire Reports

An FBI informant testified Wednesday that he discovered a tape recording he made of a terrorism suspect in 2002 “totally by accident” last weekend when he was reorganizing his compact disc collection.

Defense attorneys have questioned the credibility of informant Naseem Khan, 32, a Pakistani immigrant hired to infiltrate the Lodi Muslim community.

Khan testified earlier that he had turned over all of the recordings he made in the case against Umer Hayat, 48, and son Hamid Hayat, 23. The younger Hayat is charged with providing material support for terrorism by attending a training camp in Pakistan. Both are charged with lying.
