Backers of Capistrano Recall Effort File Suit

Proponents of a failed recall movement against Capistrano Unified School District trustees filed suit Friday in Orange County Superior Court, accusing county election officials of failing to count thousands of voters’ signatures on recall petitions.
More than 177,000 signatures were gathered last year in an attempt to recall the seven trustees, an effort fueled in part by the construction of an administration center.
The lawsuit seeks a judicial review of the signature verification process.
