Two Coal Miners Die in Separate Accidents
From Times Wire Reports
Two coal miners were killed in separate work accidents, bringing the state’s mining fatalities for the year to 18.
One miner was apparently caught and pulled into a conveyor system at a Mystic mine near Wharton, said Amy Louviere, a spokeswoman for the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.
In the other accident, at a Jacob Mining Co. mine near Naugutack, rock and roof support material fell on a locomotive, killing the operator, Louviere said.
