They’re Tickled by That Trip Down Memory Lane

Share

What a joy to read of an almost forgotten yet shared pleasure from someone I’ve never known (“Whomp, Giggle, Whee--Oh, No!” by Qevin Oji, March 19). I was born and raised in L.A. before cable TV, GameBoys, iPods and every other techno gadget that exists today. My entertainment was born out of imagination and simple thrills. It was sheer heaven for my brother and me as my father or mother drove down the Arlington Avenue “double-dip.” I get giddy just thinking about it.

The Tickle! What a fun name! We used to sing the Ohio Players’ “Love Rollercoaster” as we sped airborne over Arlington Avenue’s Roller Coaster of Love.

Thank you for a wonderful memory. I am a 70-year-old native of Los Angeles and can still remember telling my dad to go fast down Arlington Avenue. What a tickle it gave my stomach, and I laughed all the way down.
