Re “A Dab of Luck on LACMA’s Palette,” critic’s notebook, April 7
As a child of Holocaust survivors and an art lover, I was ecstatic at the outcome of Maria Altmann’s battle to win back the Klimt paintings that rightfully belong to her family.
Now, Christopher Knight has plucked the words right out of my heart, my mind, my mouth and my pen. I was preparing to write and possibly speak to all concerned to urge them to work something out to keep these fantastic paintings in Los Angeles, even if it means some kind of joint purchase (as Knight suggested) and sharing deal. Seize this incredible opportunity, please.
