5 Anti-Gang Groups to Share City Grant

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced a $1.1-million city grant Friday for five anti-gang groups that identify high-risk youths and offer them counseling and other activities.
Receiving funding are Homeboy Industries, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, the Hollenbeck Police Activities League, Project Amiga and the Nurse Family Partnership Program.
The mayor said he has allotted $2 million for anti-gang programs in his proposed budget.
