Arrest in Missing-Teen Case Adds to Mystery
The arrest of a suspect in the disappearance of teenager Natalee Holloway left many islanders wondering whether there had been a breakthrough in the almost year-old case.
Aruban authorities late Saturday would say only that the person arrested is 19 years old and has the initials G.V.C. In Aruba, when an arrest is announced, officials usually release only a suspect’s initials.
Holloway, an honors student from Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared May 30, the final night of the 18-year-old’s trip to this Dutch Caribbean island.
The public prosecutor’s office said authorities were not prepared to disclose how the arrest was linked to the case.
