Bandit Taxi Crackdown Wins Council Approval

The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to make it easier for police to crack down on bandit taxicabs. The package of laws would increase the meter activation rate in licensed taxis by 20 cents, from $2.20 to $2.40 and create a monthly assessment of $30 per cab to be used for stings and other operations to catch bandits.
