DaVita’s Profit Up 19%; Sales Nearly Double

DaVita Inc., which operates kidney dialysis centers, said its second-quarter profit rose to beat Wall Street’s estimates as revenue soared.

The El Segundo company earned $63.2 million, or 60 cents a share, up 19% from $52.9 million, or 51 cents, a year earlier. Sales nearly doubled to $1.21 billion from last year’s $617.1 million.

The company said it expected operating income for 2006 to be $670 million to $700 million, above a previous outlook of $600 million to $680 million.
