Arden Group Inc., parent of the Gelson’s chain of upscale markets, said its second-quarter profit rose 3% on stronger pricing and a higher customer count.

Earnings climbed to $4.7 million, or $1.44 a share, from $4.5 million, or $1.34, during the same period last year.
