Gracious luxury in a Belgian B

Share

“WHILE journeying through Belgium, my wife and I were fortuitously referred to a B&B; on a quiet residential street near the center of medieval Brugge. Our choice, Claire de Lune, of the four available suites in the renovated 18th century mansion, was spacious with 15-foot beamed ceilings and two unused fireplaces. The suite was luxuriously appointed and decorated by the artist owner, Caroline, a most charming hostess who spoke fluent English.”

Suites for two from $154.

Normandy: Elegant comfort

“DURING the second week in June, we stayed at the L’Atre Fleuri Bed & Breakfast in Normandy. Jim and Margaret Stephenson, retired Americans, have converted an old stone farmhouse into an elegant and comfortable lodging that provides for your every comfort. It is located in a small town halfway between Bayeux and Saint Lo. It’s an excellent location for exploring all of the D-day settings and all other Normandy sites.”
