Seen Elvis lately? Collect $3 million

Just by coincidence in conjunction with today’s 29th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, an aspiring documentary filmmaker says he’ll pay $3 million to anyone who can prove that the singer is alive.

Adam Muskiewicz is working on a film exploring the continuing popularity of the myth that Presley didn’t actually die on Aug. 16, 1977. He has interviewed Presley friends and associates including “Memphis Mafia” member Joe Esposito, former girlfriend Linda Thompson and Presley’s physician, George “Dr. Nick” Nichopolous.

Muskiewicz says he’s getting some help on the project, which he hopes to release next year, from “American Pie” producer Warren Zide and from Dan Bliss, producer of the 2004 DVD “Wise Guys On: Texas Hold ‘Em” and, until recently, owner of the original Hollywood sign, which he auctioned off on EBay for $450,000.

A British company, William Hill, is backing the $3-million offer, so that should someone demonstrate that the King is alive and claim the reward, Muskiewicz won’t be forced to live out his days in heartbreak hotel.
