Karzai Voices Anger Over U.S. Airstrike
President Hamid Karzai condemned a U.S. airstrike that Afghan officials said killed 10 border policemen.
The U.S. military said it was investigating the incident in the southeastern province of Paktika, but believed that it had struck insurgents.
Karzai said he was “shocked and angered” by the attack. He released a statement saying, “I have repeatedly asked the coalition forces to take maximum caution while carrying out operations.”
Sixteen other people died in violence around the country, including an American soldier killed by a Soviet-era land mine.
