Car Bomber Kills Child, Injures Four Soldiers
A suicide car bomber plowed into a Canadian patrol in Kandahar, Afghanistan, wounding four soldiers and killing a child nearby. Two military vehicles were set ablaze.
Insurgents also ambushed a police vehicle in the southeastern province of Paktika near the Pakistani border, killing five officers, said Abdul Malik, the governor’s spokesman.
In the southern province of Helmand, British troops killed nine insurgents late Monday, said Maj. Toby Jackman, a spokesman for the force led by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
