Junction where genres come to intersect

Share

The annual Sunset Junction Street Fair is a neighborhood event noted primarily for its music lineups. This year is no exception. Three stages of almost nonstop music Saturday and Sunday in Silver Lake will feature more than 45 diverse acts.

R&B; will be featured on the fair’s Edgecliffe Stage with such artists as Ashford and Simpson and Millie Jackson (Saturday); and Nona Hendryx and Richard Street (Sunday). DJs will spin tunes on the fair’s Sanborn Stage most of the day, interspersed with sets by Tita Lima, Very Be Careful and others (Saturday) and Black Shakespeare and others (Sunday).

And on the Bates Stage, rock in its many splendored facets will reign, with up-and-coming acts such as the Little Ones and Monsters Are Waiting warming up for the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Eels and Redd Kross on Saturday. Twangier sounds dominate Sunday, with acts such as Mike Stinson, Dave Alvin, Hank Williams III, I See Hawks in L.A. and the Drive-By Truckers playing ahead of headliners the Cramps.
