Embassy to Move From Jerusalem to Tel Aviv
From Times Wire Reports
El Salvador will move its embassy in Israel from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, the Foreign Ministry said, in a move expected to upset Israel and please Arab nations.
Foreign Minister Francisco Lainez said El Salvador, a U.S. ally that has a small contingent of troops in Iraq, hoped to help ease Middle East tensions by moving the embassy.
Neighboring Costa Rica announced last week that it would pull its diplomatic mission out of Jerusalem. El Salvador would have been the only country with an embassy in the city.
