Democratic effect
Re “Bolton resigns from U.N. post,” Dec. 5
Anyone who thinks that there will be little effect on our public policy with the election of the new Democratic Congress only needs to look at the resignation of John R. Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations. The Republican Congress would have followed along and confirmed him to stay in the job, where he would have continued to serve as the American face in diplomatic circles when in fact a change was needed to help repair America’s image.
It is my hope that President Bush will work with Democrats in picking a candidate who is less divisive and can start to repair America’s image at the United Nations and abroad.
