The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel who were killed in Iraq or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Dustin M. Adkins, 22, of Finger, Tenn.; specialist, Army. Adkins was among four troops killed Dec. 3 when a Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter carrying 16 people crashed into a lake near Haditha, west of Baghdad, because of a power failure. He was assigned to the Group Support Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Christopher A. Anderson, 24, of Longmont, Colo.; hospitalman, Navy. Anderson was killed Monday in a mortar attack on his unit in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. The Navy corpsman was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Brent E. Beeler, 22, of Jackson, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Beeler was shot to death Thursday near Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Lansing, Mich.

Jesse Castro, 22, of Chalan Pago, Guam; sergeant, Army. Castro was among five soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Hawija, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Troy D. Cooper, 21, of Amarillo, Texas; private, Army. Cooper was killed Dec. 3 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Balad, north of Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Thomas P. Echols, 20, of Shepherdsville, Ky.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Echols was killed in combat Monday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Shawn L. English, 35, of Westerville, Ohio; captain, Army. English was killed Dec. 3 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 577th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Kermit O. Evans, 31, of Hollandale, Miss.; captain, Air Force. Evans was among four troops killed Dec. 3 when a Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter carrying 16 people crashed into a lake near Haditha, west of Baghdad, because of a power failure. He was assigned to the 27th Civil Engineer Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., and deployed with the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing at Balad Air Base, Iraq.

Billy B. Farris, 20, of Bapchule, Ariz.; corporal, Army. Farris was killed Dec. 3 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Stryker reconnaissance vehicle in Taji, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Keith E. Fiscus, 26, of Townsend, Del.; sergeant, Army. Fiscus was killed Dec. 2 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Jay R. Gauthreaux, 26, of Thibodaux, La.; sergeant, Army. Gauthreaux died Monday in Balad of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle while on patrol in Baqubah, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Nicholas R. Gibbs, 25, of Stokesdale, N.C.; specialist, Army. Gibbs was killed Wednesday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany.

Troy L. Gilbert, 34, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; major, Air Force. Gilbert was killed Nov. 27 when his F-16C fighter jet crashed northwest of Baghdad. The cause was under investigation. He was assigned to the 309th Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz.

Kenneth W. Haines, 25, of Fulton, N.Y.; specialist, Army. Haines died Dec. 3 in Balad of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Abu Hishma, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

John L. Hartman Jr., 39, of Tampa, Fla.; staff sergeant, Army. Hartman was killed Nov. 30 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Jordan W. Hess, 26, of Marysville, Wash.; specialist, Army. Hess died Tuesday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries suffered Nov. 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his combat patrol in Ta’Meem, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Jason I. Huffman, 23, of Conover, N.C.; corporal, Army. Huffman was among five soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Hawija, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Travis C. Krege, 24, of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; private first class, Army. Krege was among five soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Hawija, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Dustin J. Libby, 22, of Presque Isle, Maine; corporal, Marine Corps. Libby was shot to death Wednesday during a firefight in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Robert L. Love Jr., 28, of Meridian, Miss.; staff sergeant, Army. Love was killed Dec. 1 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany.

Joshua B. Madden, 21, of Sibley, La.; specialist, Army. Madden was among five soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Hawija, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Joseph T. McCloud, 39, of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.; major, Marine Corps. McCloud was among four troops killed Dec. 3 when a Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter carrying 16 people crashed into a lake near Haditha, west of Baghdad, because of a power failure. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Bryan T. McDonough, 22, of Maplewood, Minn.; specialist, Army National Guard. McDonough was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 2 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry, Army National Guard in Crookston, Minn.

Ross A. McGinnis, 19, of Knox, Pa.; private first class, Army. McGinnis was killed Monday when he smothered a grenade that was thrown into his Humvee in Baghdad, saving the lives of four other soldiers in the vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Marco L. Miller, 36, of Longwood, Fla.; specialist, Army. Miller died Tuesday at Landstuhl Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered Dec. 3 in Taji, Iraq, from enemy indirect fire while conducting an escort mission. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion Support Company, 20th Special Forces Group at Camp Blanding, Fla.

Yari Mokri, 26, of Pflugerville, Texas; specialist, Army. Mokri was among five soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Hawija, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Travis L. Patriquin, 32, of Lockport, Ill.; captain, Army. Patriquin was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany.

Vincent J. Pomante III, 22, of Westerville, Ohio; specialist, Army. Pomante was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany.

Yevgeniy Ryndych, 24, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. Ryndych was killed Wednesday while on foot patrol in Ramadi, west of Baghdad, when a roadside bomb exploded near him. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Corey J. Rystad, 20, of Red Lake Falls, Minn.; specialist, Army National Guard. Rystad was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 2 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry, Army National Guard in Crookston, Minn.

Joshua C. Sticklen, 24, of Virginia Beach, Va.; corporal, Marine Corps. Sticklen was among four troops killed Dec. 3 when a Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter carrying 16 people crashed into a lake near Haditha, west of Baghdad, because of a power failure. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Jesse D. Tillery, 19, of Vesper, Wis.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Tillery was killed in combat Dec. 2 in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Nicholas D. Turcotte, 23, of Maple Grove, Minn.; private first class, Army National Guard. Turcotte was killed Monday when his armored vehicle overturned on a road in Nasiriya, southeast of Baghdad. The cause was under investigation. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 135th Infantry, Army National Guard in West St. Paul, Minn.
