A man who became a symbol of courage among local Vietnamese after being accused of plotting to bomb a Vietnamese embassy has been extradited to Thailand where the alleged plot unfolded, authorities said.
Van Duc Vo, 46, garnered support for allegedly standing up to the Communist government of his native country after authorities charged that, in 2001, he and another man placed explosives outside the Vietnamese embassy in Thailand and threw a brown box over the wall.
Vo denied he was a terrorist, saying that he had defused the detonators before they were placed at the embassy.
He was extradited earlier this month, authorities said.
