Sawyer gives gift of scholarship
Most office mates give gag gifts for their annual Secret Santa exchange. ABC’s Diane Sawyer set the bar a little higher this year.
On Tuesday’s “Good Morning America,” she presented her holiday present to co-anchor Robin Roberts: a full scholarship in Roberts’ name for a student from her alma mater, Pass Christian High School in Louisiana, to attend Southeastern Louisiana University.

‘Good Morning America’: A Quick Takes item in Wednesday’s Calendar section said that “Good Morning America” anchor Diane Sawyer was offering a college scholarship to a student from Pass Christian High School in Louisiana. Pass Christian is in Mississippi.
Roberts, who reported extensively on the damage Hurricane Katrina caused to her home town of Pass Christian, thanked her emotionally.
“You’re going to change somebody’s life,” she said tearfully. “You’re amazing.”
