This town sure could use a little affection

Transplants are a huge element in Los Angeles, and as a native, I’ve always felt that transplants lessen L.A. when they can’t get past their confused loyalty to home and family [“You Are Here: Deal With It,” by Stacey Collins, Dec. 14].

Their lack of embracing their new home holds them back, as well as the city. Most of these people may never return to Boston, Chicago, Guatemala, Korea, etc. So embrace! Join in! Make it your new home, without forsaking your old home, because whether these people like it or not, they are the city and the city is them.

I did not see the word “seductive” in Stacey Collins’ column. It should have been. It describes L.A. perfectly. I especially identified with the last part of the story: “home for now.”

Beware, it could be forever.
