From Times Wire Reports

Two power company managers have been fired for a 17-ton spill of diesel oil that polluted China’s giant Yangtze River in the central city of Luzhou and disrupted water supplies.

The accident forced nearby water companies that rely on the Yangtze for supplies to suspend service for several hours. The incident came amid efforts to tighten environmental standards in China, where frequent toxic spills sicken people living near industrial facilities.
