* Internet security company Symantec Corp. said its third- quarter profit fell 44% on charges related to its acquisition of storage software maker Veritas. Cupertino-based Symantec said it earned $91 million, or 8 cents a share, for the quarter ended Dec. 30, compared with $163.6 million, or 22 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 65% to $1.15 billion.

* Kilroy Realty Corp. said it swung to a fourth-quarter loss of $1.6 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with a profit of $3.3 million, or 12 cents, a year earlier. Sales at the Los Angeles-based real estate investment trust rose 4% to $61.1 million.

* Irvine-based automobile finance company Westcorp reported a 16% rise in its fourth- quarter profit to $64.2 million, or $1.21 a share, compared with $55.5 million, or $1.06, a year earlier. Total interest income climbed 18% to $383.6 million.

* Santa Ana-based Powerwave Technologies Inc. said it swung to a fourth-quarter profit of $19.2 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with a loss of $41.5 million, or 41 cents, a year earlier. Revenue for the seller of wireless equipment rose 65% to $258.7 million for the quarter ended Jan. 1.

* Epicor Software Corp. said its fourth-quarter earnings rose 7% on a 15% rise in sales. The Irvine company’s net income was $10.6 million, or 19 cents a share, compared with $9.9 million, or 18 cents, a year earlier. Revenue in the quarter was $82.6 million.
