30-Year Mortgage Rates Rise Further, to 6.23%

Rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 6.23% for the week ended Thursday, mortgage giant Freddie Mac said, up from 6.12% last week.

Rates on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing a home mortgage, averaged 5.81%, up from 5.7% last week. One-year adjustable-rate mortgages increased to 5.33% from 5.2% last week. Rates on five-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 5.87% from 5.75% last week.

The average rates do not include add-on fees known as points. The 30- and 15-year mortgages, along with the five-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage, carried a nationwide average fee of 0.5 point.
