Ex-Official Sentenced in Tourist Agency Fraud

The former executive director of the Anaheim Transportation Network, who embezzled $118,875 from the agency that provides transportation for tourists, was sentenced Friday to five months in prison and five months’ home detention. She was also ordered to pay restitution, according the U.S. attorney’s office.
Laurie Smith, 40, pleaded guilty in November to one count of mail fraud.
Prosecutors accused Smith of mailing payments to a fictitious vender between October 2002 and December 2003.
