From Times Wire Reports

Investigators are looking into the possibility that Yemeni intelligence officers helped 23 Al Qaeda prisoners escape from an underground prison beneath a heavily guarded security headquarters, officials said.

The prisoners escaped Friday, apparently by digging a tunnel that emerged at a mosque, the officials said.

Interpol said Sunday that Jamal Badawi, who was sentenced to death for plotting and helping carry out the 2000 bombing of the U.S. destroyer Cole, was among the fugitives.
