10 Officers Cleared in Fatal Shooting in Chase
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis on Tuesday cleared 10 police officers of any criminal liability in the fatal shooting of Santino Juarez, 31, during a running gun battle last year.
Juarez fired 29 times at officers during a car chase; officers fired 30 rounds. Dumanis said the officers were justified because Juarez posed a threat to them and to bystanders.
The chase began when officers tried to arrest Juarez on a felony robbery warrant. An autopsy found methamphetamine in his body.
