30-Year Mortgage Rates Up for Third Week

Rates on 30-year mortgages rose to 6.24% this week, up from 6.23% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said. It was a third consecutive weekly increase.

Rates on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing, averaged 5.83%, up from 5.81% last week.

One-year adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 5.34% from 5.33% last week. Rates on five-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 5.89%, up from 5.87% last week.

The rates do not include add-on fees known as points. The 30-year and 15-year mortgages both carried a nationwide average fee of 0.6 point. The one-year and five-year adjustable-rate mortgages carried an average fee of 0.7 point.
