Wildcats Get Past Beavers

Ivan Radenovic scored a career-high 26 points and Marcus Williams had 16 to lead Arizona to an 80-58 victory over Oregon State on Saturday. It was the Wildcats’ 24th consecutive win over the Beavers at Tucson.

The victory was Arizona’s second in a row at home after losing three consecutive road games. It was the Beavers’ sixth loss in a row.

Oregon State (10-14, 3-10) was led by Sasa Cuic, who scored 16 points, but he had only one in the second half.

The Beavers tried to stay within reach despite 25 turnovers and cut the deficit to 11 with almost nine minutes remaining. Arizona (15-9, 8-5) responded with baskets by Kirk Walters and Williams.

Radenovic had reached his previous high of 20 points three minutes into the second half when his basket gave Arizona a 54-35 lead as part of a 10-2 run.

Oregon 98, Arizona State 87 -- Malik Hairston scored 22 points and Chamberlain Oguchi had 20 at Tempe, Ariz., to help the Ducks end a six-game losing streak.

Oguchi, who averages only 6.3 points a game, made six of his first seven three-point shots in helping the Ducks (11-14, 5-8) build a 20-point second-half lead. The Sun Devils (9-13, 3-10) got to within seven in the last two minutes.

Sylvester Seay had a career-high 21 points. Jeff Pendergraph also had a career-high 21 for the Sun Devils, who had won two in a row for the first time since December.

The poorest free-throw shooting team in the conference, Oregon made its first 11 and finished the game 29 for 33.
