From Associated Press
KABUL, Afghanistan —
Inmates seized control of a prison block at a high security prison holding Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in Kabul, an official said early today.
The prisoners forced guards out of a block at Policharki Prison during a riot on Saturday night, said Abdul Salaam Bakshi, chief of prisons in Afghanistan. The prison holds 1,300 inmates, including Al Qaeda and Taliban members.
Bakshi said police had the prison surrounded and no inmates had broken out.
