Prisoners Agree to Halt Rioting -- for Now

From Times Wire Reports

Authorities said they had resumed supplies of food and water to inmates at Afghanistan’s main jail after about 2,000 prisoners agreed to temporarily halt two days of rioting.

At least four inmates have been killed and 38 wounded in the uprising, blamed on about 350 Taliban and Al Qaeda detainees. The violence erupted Saturday after prisoners refused to put on new uniforms, delivered in response to a breakout last month by seven Taliban prisoners who had disguised themselves as visitors.
