Hope, and dismay

Re “Stem Cell Programs Forge Ahead,” Jan. 3

“They can slow us down but can’t stop us” gives me hope, but I also know I am living on borrowed time. Each day I get up with a smile, knowing researchers are working on a cure for the Parkinson’s disease that makes each movement of my body a painful effort. I thank God for private funding that moves the research forward, and I cry for the money tied up in cruel lawsuits and wonder how the people behind them can sleep at night knowing they are responsible for holding up funding for this incredibly promising research.
