Truck Driver Charged in Bus Crash Deaths
A truck driver was charged in Eau Claire with homicide in a crash that killed five people and injured 29 on a bus carrying high school band students home from a competition.
Witness accounts suggest John Kozlowski had fallen asleep at the wheel when his truck swerved off Interstate 94 and jackknifed across the bus’ path before dawn Oct. 16, according to a criminal complaint filed by Dist. Atty. Richard White.
The charter bus slammed into the rig, killing the band’s director, his wife, their 11-year-old granddaughter, the driver and a student teacher.
