Murder Charge Stands Against Army Officer
From Times Wire Reports
A military judge in Colorado Springs rejected a request to dismiss a murder charge against an Army officer accused of suffocating an Iraqi general in 2003.
Chief Warrant Officer Lewis E. Welshofer Jr. is accused of killing Iraqi Maj. Gen. Abed Hamed Mowhoush during an interrogation in Iraq.
His civilian attorney had asked the judge to throw out the charge, arguing that a commander at Ft. Carson, where Welshofer is based, improperly tried to influence the case.
