All she wants is a good night’s sleep

RE “When Slumber’s No Party” [Jan. 12]: I found yesterday’s L.A. Times article about sleeping problems interesting. My husband has a CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) machine, and I have been having trouble finding ear plugs that block the noise. The ones I am using now are good to 32 decibels, but its low hum (no, it isn’t the same as “white noise”) can still be heard. Many a night I’ve gone to another room in the middle of the night to get some sleep. Combine the sound of a machine in the background all night long with hot flashes and you’ve got a grumpy person in the morning.
