U.S. Fuel Demand Falls Amid Record Oil Prices

Demand for fuel dropped in 2005 as hurricane damage along the Gulf Coast pushed crude oil prices to records, the American Petroleum Institute said.
Deliveries of petroleum products in the U.S., a measure of demand, averaged 20.6 million barrels a day last year, down 0.6% from 2004. It was the first annual drop in four years.
