Mods & Rockers festival expands
The American Cinematheque’s seventh annual Mods & Rockers Film Festival, originally conceived to celebrate British and American youth-oriented films of the 1960s, is expanding this year, both in subject matter and length.
The event will run for six weeks and will present more than 60 movies, including such vintages ‘60s fare as “Easy Rider,” “What’s New, Pussycat?,” “Privilege” and “The Knack ... And How to Get It,” and music-oriented films such as “Woodstock,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Grease,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Viva Las Vegas” and “Tommy.”
The festival runs from July 13 to Aug. 31, with screenings at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and the Aero in Santa Monica. Additional information, including the full schedule, is available at www.modsandrockers.com.
