Alleged tunnel plot leads to questions
Re “Plot on N.Y. Tunnels Alleged,” July 8
During the last presidential election, we were treated to color-coded “terror alerts” to shore up the president’s poll numbers. With the revelation of the New York tunnel plot, following the Florida terror “conspiracy” that was no more than idle chatter, it is apparent that we are to be treated to revealed terror plots to generate the victories and fear needed by Republicans to stem their losses in the November election. What a travesty of democracy that the entire government has been turned into a GOP electioneering machine.

Am I the only one to notice that this alleged plot was disrupted not by phone taps or monitoring financial transactions, which the terrorists already probably knew about, but through legal monitoring of Internet sites?
