PRI Boots Leading Female Politician
From Times Wire Reports
The former ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, expelled one of Mexico’s most prominent female politicians.
In a news release, the PRI said it had removed Elba Esther Gordillo, head of the teachers union, because she slandered the party’s presidential candidate Roberto Madrazo in the campaign for the July 2 elections.
Madrazo finished third. Gordillo resigned as PRI secretary- general in September after exchanging insults with Madrazo.
