Update -- One of New York’s few victories this season came against the Sparks on June 3. Since then, the Sparks have gone 15-2 and are on a five-game winning streak after Sunday’s 90-78 victory over Minnesota. Lisa Leslie earned her fourth WNBA player-of-the-week honor for averaging 29.5 points and 13 rebounds in the victories over Minnesota and Phoenix. She is the first player to win four such honors in one season and has been selected 14 times in her career, the most in league history. The Liberty is on a franchise-record seven-game losing streak, including Sunday’s 80-70 defeat in Phoenix. It is still without All-Star Becky Hammon (left ankle sprain) and appears destined to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2003.
