This usage passes

I take exception to Will Rigby’s letter to Calendar in response to the “Common Dissents” article of July 2 [Letters, July 9]. Mr. Rigby, you surely must realize that the Times reporter was accurate when he made mention of John Kerry’s “failed [election] campaign.” I don’t think the reporter could have been any more accurate, frankly. A failure is a failure, and Kerry’s campaign was indeed a failed one.
