From Times Wire Reports
Doctors across India ended a 19-day strike over a plan to increase the medical college quota for lower castes to 49.5%, hours after the Supreme Court ordered them back to work while it reviewed the policy.
The strike had left hundreds of patients wearily waiting for regular services to resume. Doctors not striking had kept emergency rooms running.
Critics of the plan say many jobs and school spots reserved for low castes remain empty.
