Chinese cars from Chery Automobile Co. may not go on sale in the U.S. until 2008, the investor who is bringing the cars to the U.S. market said.

Visionary Vehicles founder Malcolm Bricklin had planned for Chery sales to begin in late 2007. He said his target of selling 250,000 units in the first year might not be possible.

Bricklin’s company is betting that cars built by state-owned Chery will attract buyers looking for small, inexpensive vehicles.
