Broadcom Corp. said that its top salesman had quit and that the company had combined two units.

Andrew Pease, senior vice president of global sales, stepped down June 1, the Irvine-based company said.

Pease will be replaced by Thomas Lagatta, who previously led the unit that makes chips for servers and storage devices.

Broadcom also merged Lagatta’s former unit with the networking infrastructure group and named that division’s chief, Ford Tamer, to lead the combined operation.
