The price of fame

So Bruce Springsteen had a tough time getting the people to sing along [“Sing Along With Bruce and the Band,” by Ann Powers, June 7].

Yes, it is practically requisite that the audience sing along on almost any folk song. Unfortunately, Springsteen, or the promoter, put ticket prices way above the “working person’s” pocketbook. At $89.50 a ticket, this obviously wasn’t the same type of crowd that Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie played for, at least not economically. Bruce should have taken a note from John Lennon and told the people in the “cheap” $60 seats to sing along and everybody else to rattle their jewelry.
