L.A. Phil ‘Tristan Project’ moved

A change of venue has abridged the spring 2007 presentation of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s “Tristan Project” in New York.

According to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, refurbishing the Seventh Regiment Park Avenue Armory for the production -- a semi-staged version of Wagner’s “Ring” cycle -- proved unworkable. The two complete performances will take place at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall on May 2 and 5; three single-act performances have been canceled.

‘Tristan Project’: A story in Calendar’s June 16 edition about the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s presentation of the “Tristan Project” described it as a version of Wagner’s “Ring” cycle. It is a version of Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde.”

A Philharmonic spokesman said Thursday that because the orchestra will not travel to New York as early as it had planned, it would offer two complete performances of the cycle instead of one at Walt Disney Concert Hall next year, on April 18 and 24.
