Time to revisit the survival kit

YEARS ago, I feared getting trapped at work in downtown L.A. when “the big one” hit [“Survivor: The Backyard Episode,” June 8].

I dutifully prepared my survival kit and kept it in my car. Then 9/11 hit: Suddenly, I couldn’t enter parking structures without having my car searched and without being asked if I had weapons in my car.

Several items in my kit did not pass inspection so I gave up and left it at home. I guess it’s safe to pull out the kit, update it and carry it again.
